Important: Two-Stage Registration Process from August 2021 Real Estate Salesperson (RES) Examination

Looking forward from August 2021 for the RES examination, There will be a two-stage registration process from the August 2021 RES examination onward. To ensure a smooth registration experience for applicants, we are implementing a two-stage registration process for you to (i) indicate your interest (on FormSG), and subsequently (ii) register for the examination at NTUC LearningHub’s website if you are shortlisted. Shortlisting is done on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note the dates of the respective stages.

RES Exam Nov 2022 Two-Stage Registration Process:

Important Announcements:

• For 19th & 20th November 2022 Real Estate Salesperson (RES) examination, it will be conducted in two stages. Please note the dates for both the Stage 1 and the Stage 2 registration respectively. 

• Apart from the usual paper-based examination, CEA is conducting a pilot computer-based examination (CBE) for the first time for 200 full-sitting candidates. The pilot CBE will do the same examination paper and it will be conducted at the same time as the usual paper-based November 2022 RES examination.

• Please note that the demand for RES examination seats is high.  It will not be possible to allocate an examination seat to every applicant who has indicated interest for the examination. 

Stage 1: Indication of Interest on FormSG

STAGE 1: 14 OCTOBER 2022, 9am to 12 noon – INDICATION OF INTEREST ON THE FORMSG

You are eligible to indicate your interest on FORMSG to sit for the RES examination on 19th & 20th Nov 2022, if you:

  • completed your RES course before 14 Oct 2022
  • obtained a valid RES course completion certificate

Important: ONLY make only one submission to indicate your interest. You will be disqualified immediately if you submit more than one Form or made an erroneous submission. CEA mentioned NO appeals will be entertained.

You will expect a total RES examination candidature of 3,000 for Nov 2022 intake.

  • 2,800 candidates will take the paper-based examination at SIM Headquarters,
  • 200 candidates will take the computer-based examination (CBE) that CEA is piloting at Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

Both the pilot CBE and the paper-based RES examination will be conducted simultaneously on the same dates, and both will be using the same examination papers.

Only the full-sitting applicants will be asked to indicate their preference of examination mode, i.e. either the pilot CBE or the paper-based examination in FormSG. For details, please refer to the FAQ and user guide for the pilot CBE below.

Please note that the FormSG link will only be activated from 9am to 12 noon on 14 October 2022.

The exam seats will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis to applicants who

  • have successfully submitted their indication of interest based on their choice of examination type (i.e. full sitting for both RES exam paper, modular paper 1 only or modular paper 2 only) and preference for the examination mode (either pilot CBE or paper-based examination for the full-sitting applicants), and
  • have met the eligibility criteria, including course completion before 14 October 2022.

LHUB will get in touch with the shortlisted applicants on 20 October 2022 to provide further instructions on Stage 2 of RES examination registration at the LHUB website.

If you are shortlisted, you need to complete the registration and payment on LHUB’s website from 21st to 24th October 2022 (for paper-based examination), and from 26th to 27th  October 2022 (for the pilot CBE).

Some applicants who are not shortlisted may be placed on the waitlist and will be informed accordingly.

All waitlisted applicants who are unsuccessful will be informed via email by 1 November 2022.

Stage 2: NOV 2022 RES Examination Registration

If you are shortlisted, you will receive an email from LHUB. You should follow the instructions in the email to complete the November 2022 RES examination registration at LHUB’s website. If you are shortlisted but did not complete the examination registration process by the deadline stated by LHUB, your exam seats will be allocated to those on the waitlist.

Successful full-sitting applicants who are assigned with the pilot CBE seats and complete the registration process will be notified subsequently of the examination arrangements by Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

RES Examination Rules

The RES examination is administered by CEA’s appointed examination administrator, NTUC LearningHub Pte Ltd (“LHUB”). Candidates may refer to LHUB’s website for the full listing of examination rules and regulations.

Below are some of the important examination rules that candidates a should note:

    1. The RES examination commences at 9.30am. Candidates are reminded to be punctual. Candidates who arrive at the exam reporting counter after the 15-minutes grace period (i.e. 9.45am) will NOT be allowed to sit for the examination. No refund of the examination fee will be given to the candidates.
    1. In view of the COVID-19 situation, candidates who tested positive for COVID-19 seven days before the first date of the exam will not be allowed to take the examination. Likewise, candidates who have any fever or flu-like symptoms will not be allowed to take the examination. Candidates are advised not to go to the examination venues, but to see a doctor if they feel unwell.
    1. Candidates who made false declaration using the Trace Together SafeEntry will lead to disqualification from the examination, and/or may be barred from taking future examinations..
    1. Candidates are not allowed to carry their mobile devices during the examination. All mobile devices must be switched off (no vibration or airplane mode is allowed) and placed at the designated area in the examination hall. Any candidate found to be in possession of their mobile devices during the examination may be disqualified from the examination and/or barred from taking future examinations.
    1. All copies of the questions and examination papers are the property of CEA and must be returned to the invigilator at the end of the examination. Recording of the examination questions in any form is strictly prohibited. Any candidate who is found to have recorded the examination question and/or leaves the examination hall with the examination paper will be immediately disqualified from the examination and reported to CEA. CEA reserves the right to bar the candidate from future examinations.
  1. CEA and LHUB take a serious view on cheating during the examination. CEA reserves the right to bar any candidate attempting to gain an unfair advantage in the examination (whether by breaching an examination regulation or otherwise) from future examinations.

Candidates who do not turn up for the examination would be considered “absent” and fail the examination. CEA may consider requests for deferment only under the following circumstances:

  1. Hospitalisation on the day of examination
  2. Bereavement of next of kin
  3. National Service duties that cover the day of the examination
  4. Tested positive for COVID-19, whether at a polyclinic, General Practitioner, at one of the Joint Testing and Vaccination Centres (JTVCs), Combined Test Centres (CTCs) or Quick Test Centres (QTCs), or via remote supervised ART services by approved licensed providers in Singapore, not earlier than seven days before the first date of exam, e.g. a candidate sitting for RES Paper 1 on 20 August 2022 (and full sitting candidate for 20-21 August 2022 exam) tests positive on 13 August 2022 may be approved for deferment subject to application and payment requirements; a candidate sitting only for RES Paper 2 on 21 August 2022 tests positive on 14 August 2022 may be approved for deferment subject to application and payment requirements. Applicants are to provide official HealthHub records during application for deferment.

An administrative fee of $107 (inclusive of GST) will be levied on each examination deferment application, which can be made up to 5 working days after the date of examination. Candidates approved for deferment may only attempt the next examination. No further deferment will be allowed.
